All of the wedding details!

I've been SO excited to share all of the details and photos in regards to Preston and I's wedding so I hope you all enjoy!

We got married on the 8th of October 2016, which is actually his parents wedding anniversary as well. That wasn't planned but when we were discussing dates we both knew we wanted to get married in the fall. I was looking at the weekend dates for October right after we got engaged and saw that the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend was the weekend I wanted. It just so happened it was the day his parents got married as well, which means more to me knowing that too.

We were fortunate enough for Preston's amazing family to host a beautiful rehearsal dinner the evening before we got married. It was lovely - there was food, laughter and love. I couldn't have been more grateful to have his family to be such a big part in our special day. It gave both sides of our family to get to know each other before the wedding and it gave the wedding party to actually know what was going on for it as well.

The night before our wedding, I decided I wanted a night with my bridesmaids and wanted to be super traditional and not see Preston until our wedding day.
Jordan!

Brynie!

<!-- more -->

My bridesmaids were my two sisters Brynie and Caoilfhinn (Kay-lin) and my maid of honour was my bestfriend Jordan! The night before, us girls attempted to do those weird face masks but it didn't really last long as they were burning our face haha. So we ended up trying to go to bed and get some sleep. Jordan and I stayed up for hours reminiscing and laughing about all our memories together before we finally fell asleep.

It was finally morning and it was time to get going. And for some odd reason - I had absolutely NO nerves. I was so so excited to marry my bestfriend, my soulmate. Us girls had all our makeup out together and my little sister Caoilfhinn did all of our makeup for us. Preston's beautiful friend and now my friend - Raven is an AMAZING hair stylist and did everyone's hair as well. She was also a big part in our day as she was Preston's groomswoman.

Here are some photos of us all getting ready!

Jordan's mum Cathy brought us all subway sandwiches and literally forced us all to eat. I'm so grateful she did that as I didn't really feel like eating breakfast that morning. She even made the photographer eat haha. After that, we were ready for more photos!

My beautiful mum

My gorgeous auntie

I definitely felt like a princess once I stepped into my dress. It did take like 10 minutes to put on though as my mum & Jordan had to individually button all of the buttons, one by one. After it was all done though and I saw my dad coming through the front door from upstairs, that's when the emotions hit me. And when I mean hit me, I mean like a semi-truck full on slamming into me. Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE crying. I don't like getting sympathy from anyone. It's just who I've grown up to be. But while I was walking down the stairs and I saw my dad, I just started balling. I could feel inside me that this was all real. I could see it in his eyes that he knew as well.

I will cherish these photos and this moment with my dad for the rest of my life. I will tell my children about this moment and that they will experience this with their father one day too.

We had our beautiful family friend Abby drive us all to the wedding venue in her white Esclade. It was lovely! Thanks again Abby, we love you!
As we were waiting to walk down the aisle, Preston's uncle Jess came downstairs to see if we were all ready. We asked him to marry us as soon as we picked a date for the wedding.
So we head upstairs after Preston and his grooms party walk in and now it was our turn. They walked down the aisle to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri and I could just hear the music playing. (The Piano Version). My heart was pounding and more emotions were kicking in. I wasn't nervous at all, I was just so emotional and couldn't believe this day was finally here.
My beautiful friend Dana was playing piano for us and I walked down the aisle to "Canon in D" by Pachlbel. I always dreamt of walking down to that song and I was lucky enough to have my bestfriend play it for me.

Now as I was walking down the aisle, I kept trying to tell myself to cry but I honestly couldn't hold it in. The emotions took over and all the tears were flowing. Happy tears of course!

Preston's beautiful cousin as our flower girl!

Basically sobbing at this point
A photo that I'll cherish forever. This is what made me cry, just seeing his handsome face.

My dad giving me away

As soon as Preston took my hand, he said in my ear "you look absolutely stunning".
We had the honour to have a university student sing for us at our wedding. Preston's auntie Angela set it up for us and she picked the song "Can't help falling in Love" by Elvis Presley. And guys - if you could've heard this girl, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Literally everyone was crying. This was the moment where Preston looked over at me and grabbed my hand and just held me.

And YES, my dress had pockets. I took my kleenex out and wiped my tears haha.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, both physically and emotionally. It was so intimate, we only had about 50 people there. Close family and friends and that's all I ever wanted in a wedding, I never wanted a huge one.
Like most ceremonies, we exchanged vows and I'm not going to brag or anything but mine were pretty rad. I got lots of laughs out of them and I was pretty proud, even Preston still talks about them to this day. And obviously after it all, we said yes and he kissed the bride!!

We had a gap of 2-3 hours between the ceremony and the reception. The venue needed time to flip the room and we needed time to go take photos with everyone. I'm just going to let the photos do the talking because they are simply stunning! Thank you SO much again Jill for the AMAZING photos that we will cherish forever.

My lovely bestfrienf Kiki!

Preston with the girls!
As you can see with the last couple of photos, the sun finally decided to make an appearance. It made the photos even more stunning!
After all of the picture taking, it was time to head back to the reception. I couldn't wait to see the venue and how everything turned out.

We used our own whiteboard for the seating plan, most of these photos were already on there anyways haha.

And it was time to relax and have fun. Everything was literally beautiful and perfect. I couldn't have been more happy with how everything turned out. It wasn't the biggest wedding but I genuinely felt like everyone was just happy to be there and they all wanted to have fun too!

We knew the food would be delicious at our venue as Preston's work Christmas parties are always here so we at least knew that the food would be good despite anything else. We had SO many compliments on the food which made me so so happy.
LOOK AT THE FOOD!!

Preston's dad side of the family planned and performed a "Happy" skit for us at the reception. It was seriously the most thoughtful and funniest thing ever. They got everyone up on their feet dancing and formed a huge conga line. As you can see from the pictures, his little cousins had despicable me costumes on and we all just had a great time.

I can honestly say after this long day, it was all so worth it. There was lots of stress and tension building up towards it all but it all went away as soon as I put that dress on.
Getting married at 19 seems very young these days but it actually isn't if you look past the age. Preston and I knew what we wanted, we knew we loved each other and couldn't picture spending our lives with anyone else. So we just went for it and decided to get married not even a year of being engaged. We didn't want to wait, we just wanted to be married.
Preston and I didn't even want a wedding to begin with, we both just wanted to elope....we didn't want the stress of worrying who to invite and getting everything planned and paid for. But after some convincing from some family members, we can look back and say we have no regrets from our wedding. We invited the right people, we chose to do a lot of things on our own like the bouquets, the centrepieces, we chose the right venue, we chose the right people for our wedding party. And most important, we chose each other.

Age doesn't define you or what you're able to do. It's all about you as a person and what you want to accomplish. You can do anything no matter what your age, you just got to set your mind to it.

Thank you all if you're still here, and until next time!

Lots of love,
